🌐 Chrome Extension
The Chrome extension enables silent tab-specific audio capture — no screen-share banners, no "Chrome is sharing your screen" dialogs. It also powers the page scanner that extracts job descriptions and code from interview platforms.
- Download the extension from the Chrome Web Store (coming soon) or load it unpacked from the
extension/ folder in Developer Mode.
- Pin the Cuebird icon to your toolbar for quick access.
- During an interview session, click the extension icon and select "Capture this tab" to start streaming audio.
- The suggestion feed appears in the Cuebird web app — keep it visible in a separate window or on a second monitor.
⚠️ Important: The extension only captures audio from the tab you select. It does not record your screen, webcam, or any other tabs. Permissions are scoped to the minimum needed for audio capture.
🖥️ Electron Desktop Overlay
The Electron overlay is a transparent, always-on-top window that displays AI suggestions floating above your interview window. It connects to the same Cuebird session so you don't need to switch tabs.
- Download the Cuebird desktop app from cuebirdai.com (Windows installer coming soon). Launch it — the overlay appears as a translucent floating window.
- The overlay appears as a translucent window. Drag it to position it near your interview window.
- Suggestions appear in the overlay in real time. Use the opacity slider to adjust visibility.
- Click "Suggest" to manually trigger a suggestion from the current transcript, or type a prompt in the input field.
💡 Tip: For the best experience, use the Electron overlay on a second monitor — keep your interview full-screen on one display and the overlay floating on the other.
🎤 Audio Capture Options
You have three ways to capture audio, depending on your setup:
- Microphone mode — Cuebird listens through your mic. Best for in-person interviews or when you're speaking.
- System audio mode — Captures audio playing on your computer (Zoom, Meet, Teams). Requires Chrome/Edge. No mic needed.
- Chrome extension mode — Captures a specific tab silently. No screen-share indicator. Recommended for remote interviews.
